Olivia Rodrigo: The Queen of Teenage Heartbreak is Coming to Philadelphia!! Here’s What to Expect!

Written By Rosie Bui (BFS’25); Edited by Vivian Cai (W’24)

Since the moment her song ‘Driver’s License’ hit streaming platforms, Olivia Rodrigo has failed to hide from the glaring spotlight. From her ‘it girl’ fashion choices to her undeniably relatable music, it is no wonder both her shows at The Met Philadelphia are completely sold out. Here is what to expect from the teen sensation as she visits Philadelphia on May 6 and 7, 2022.

  1. Olivia will make you relive the heartbreak you thought you got over two weeks ago. Rodrigo’s songs surround her highly publicized sticky separation with Joshua Bassett, her co-star in HSMTMTS, which might explain why they are so soul-touching. In her song ‘Happier’, she sings “she probably gives you butterflies”, referring to another person involved in her lover’s life. If you listen closely enough on the Friday and Saturday nights… you might hear some sobbing.

  2. Olivia never misses with her fashion choices. Pulling up to the Met Gala in a Saint Laurent jumpsuit, Rodrigo never fails to leave us speechless with our jaws on the floor after every appearance. Expect some 2000’s inspired outfits to be worn by concert-goers, like low-waisted jeans, tiny sunglasses, and bright eyeshadow, and be on your tippy toes to keep an eye on what the star is dawning on stage.

  3. A good weekend for the girls: Olivia Rodrigo is a voice for young girls and upcoming artists everywhere. On many occasions, she has voiced her support for the ‘girls that write songs from their bedroom floors.’ Her support for the younger generation, on top of being an iconic actress and singer, is on the list of things to admire about her.

  4. A break from reality: The past couple of years have been challenging for a lot of us. Olivia’s tour is the mark of a new beginning, a strike that highlights the transition out of quarantine and into the concert scene.

A night for the heartbroken to unite, we cannot wait for you to visit. See you soon, Olivia! XOXO
