Education & Engagement

The Education & Engagement Committee is responsible for planning events and creating materials to educate our members on a variety of professional skills and engage the larger Penn community. Including writing blog posts, planning resume and interview workshops, incubators, panels, and more, the E&E committee strives to provide programming that fosters development for attendees.

 

2025 Committee

Rhea Thapar

Rhea Thapar (Class of 2027) is from Milwaukee, WI, and is concentrating in Finance and Business Analytics. She joined Evolve her freshman fall and spent three semesters with the committee. Concurrently, she served as Programming Chair for Dressing for Success. As VP of Operations, Rhea is excited to ensure the seamless execution of all Wharton Women events and foster a strong sense of community within the Walnut Street Journal and Education & Engagement committees. Outside of Wharton Women, Rhea is also a project lead for the Wharton Undergraduate Venture Group, financial analyst for The WALK Fashion Magazine, and consultant with the Global Research Consulting Group. Azin Anees, WWS

Azin Anees (Class of 2028) is from San Jose, California and is studying economics and psychology in the College. She joined Wharton Women her freshman spring on the Education & Engagement committee. Azin is also involved in Strategy & Promotions at the Daily Pennsylvanian and the Wharton Behavioral Lab. Anna Cheng, Events

Anna Cheng (Class of 2028) is a first-year student from Bucks County, PA majoring in Bioengineering and potentially minoring in Engineering Entrepreneurship or Computer Science. She joined Wharton Women her freshman spring and is excited to plan engaging and informative events for members to build more skills. Outside of Wharton Women, Anna is also involved in Penn SWE, WUEG, and WAX. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, trying new foods, and going for walks outside when the weather is nice. Maria Del Carmen Herrera, WSJ

Maria Del Carmen Herrera (Class of 2028) is a freshman in the College, planning to major in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics with a minor in International Development and Urban Studies. Originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, she’s looking forward to experiencing the colder weather that she rarely gets back home! Maria joined the Walnut Street Journal Committee during the fall to continue her passion for writing and highlighting Hispanic culture. Beyond Wharton Women, she is also the Social Chair for Wharton Latino, Consultant in the Global Research and Consulting Group, campus tour guide for Kite & Key, and works as a research and administrative assistant at the Spanish & Portuguese Department, as well as the Francophone, Italian, and Germanic Studies Department. In her free time, Maria enjoys walking through Rittenhouse, watching Formula 1, reading a good novel, and listening to The Beatles. Maggie Goldman, WWS

Maggie Goldman (Class of 2028) is from Los Angeles, California and is studying Communications and Consumer Psychology in the College. She joined Wharton Women her freshman fall in the Walnut Street Journal Committee and continues to pursue her goals on the Education & Engagement committee. Maggie is also involved in Consult for America, Penn Appétit, and she dabbles as a DJ in DJ@Penn. In her free time, you can catch Maggie spending time with friends, exploring Center City for new brunch spots, and attending core power classes. Valeri Guevarra, WSJ

Valeri Guevarra (Class of 2026) is a student in the Nursing and Healthcare Management dual-degree program originally from New Jersey. Valeri's passion for journalism led her to join the Walnut Street Journal during her sophomore fall. Having previously served as Editor-in-Chief of her high school newspaper and founded a nonprofit media company, she is excited to explore the business world through the lens of journalism. Some topics she likes to write about include the economics of the entertainment industry, business of sports, and healthcare. Outside of WSJ, Valeri has been involved with The Daily Pennsylvanian, Nonprofit Connect Consulting, NJ Department of Health, Penn Club Swim, Wharton Undergraduate Healthcare Club and Wharton Undergraduate Consulting Club. In her free time, she loves listening to Sabrina Carpenter, trying new restaurants and documenting the experiences on her food Instagram, and traveling to new cities. Syona Gupta, WWS

Syona Gupta (Class of 2028) is from Northville, Michigan and is studying Finance and Business Analytics in Wharton. She joined Wharton Women her freshman spring on the Education & Engagement committee. Syona is also involved in the Wharton Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Club, Women in Consulting, Wharton Cohorts, and Music Business at Penn. Mia Hail (Class of 2027) is from Lower Merion, PA and is in the Wharton School. She joined the Education and Engagement committee her freshman spring and has loved being a part of the Wharton Women community. Mia is also the Managing Editor for UnEarthed Magazine, on the culinary committee of Penn Appetit, and a member of Penn Club Ski Team. Jessica Hua, WSJ

Jessica Hua (Class of 2026) is from Farmington, CT and is studying finance and sociology. She joined Wharton Women her sophomore spring in the WSJ committee. In her free time she enjoys golfing, exploring new restaurants, and watching Michigan football.

Alexandra Kent, WSJ

Alexandra Kent (Class of 2028) is a first-year student in the College of Arts & Sciences majoring in Economics. She is from Atlanta, Georgia, and is excited to be a part of Wharton Women this semester. Alexandra joined the Education & Engagement committee and the Walnut Street Journal her freshman spring, and looks forward to writing about finance and business topics that affect the Penn community. Outside of Wharton Women, Alexandra is a Junior Finance Analyst for the Daily Pennsylvanian and enjoys furthering her DJ skills in DJ@Penn. Luna Meline, Events 

Luna Meline (Class of 2028) is a first-year student from Paris, France, intending to major in Economics and minor in Data Science. She joined the Education & Engagement Committee in her freshman spring and is excited to create engaging workshops that equip women with practical skills as a member of the Events subcommittee. Outside of Wharton Women, Luna is involved in The WALK as a Fashion Stylist and co-writes an AI newsletter for the Penn community through the AI Business Club. Callie Milner, Events

Callie Milner (Class of 2027) is from Chicago, IL and is in the Wharton School. She joined Wharton Women her freshman fall and has been on the Education & Engagement committee since then. In addition to Wharton Women, she is involved in the Wharton Undergraduate Finance Club, the Wharton Alumni Relations Council, and Wharton GUIDE. Callie is also in Sparks Dance Company. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going for walks, and trying new restaurants.

Samantha Mirabal, Resources

Samantha Mirabal (Class of 2028) is a first-year student in Wharton from Miami, Florida. She plans to concentrate in Finance and is eager to explore all of the opportunities that Wharton has to offer. She first became involved with Wharton Women by participating in the Fellows program her freshman fall. As a member of the Education & Engagement committee and the Resources subcommittee, she is excited to give back to the Wharton Women community and create opportunities for members to learn and develop new skills. Outside of Wharton Women, Samantha is involved in Wharton Undergraduate Finance Club, Wharton Management Club, Common Cents, Women in Consulting, and Education Consulting at Penn. Uma Mukhopadhyay, WWS

Uma Mukhopadhyay (Class of 2028) is a first year in the College studying Economics and English with a minor in Data Science & Analytics. She’s originally from outside Atlanta, Georgia and is excited to explore more of Philadelphia. Uma joined Wharton Women her freshman fall through Walnut Street Journal but is looking forward to spotlighting more women-related accomplishments and opportunities through Women on Walnut Street. At Penn, she’s involved with The Daily Pennsylvanian, 34th Street Magazine, Marketing Undergraduate Student Establishment, and the Netter Center’s Community School Student Partnerships. Savannah Pineros, WSS

Savanna Pineros (Class of 2028) is from Long Island, NY, and plans to pursue a concentration in Finance. She first joined Wharton Women through the Fellows program in her freshman fall. She looks forward to crafting informative and inspiring content for the Women on Walnut Street Newsletter. In her free time, she enjoys listening to latin music, thrifting, traveling, and exploring Philly’s food scene. 

Nina Raval, WSJ

Nina Rawal (Class of 2027) is a sophomore in Wharton dual concentrating in Finance and Business Analytics. She is originally from Phoenix, Arizona, and is excited to further explore the city of Philly this semester. Nina joined the Walnut Street Journal Committee her freshman fall and is excited to write about topics that fascinate her, furthering her passion for writing while learning more about the multifaceted field of business. Outside of Wharton Women, Nina is a part of Wharton Wellness, The Daily Pennsylvanian, The WALK, and Penn Appétit. In her free time, you will find Nina spending time with friends, listening to music, or on a long walk by the Schuylkill. Ava Shaw, Resources

Ava Shaw (Class of 2027) is from Orange County, CA and is studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics with minors in Consumer Psychology and American Public Policy. She joined Wharton Women her freshman fall and has been on the Education & Engagement committee since then. In addition to Wharton Women, Ava is also a part of Wharton Undergraduate Finance Club and MUSE on the Finance Committee, and is on Penn’s Club Gymnastics Team. Ava Strong (Class of 2027) is from Chevy Chase, MD and is studying International Studies & Business in the Huntsman program. Her target language is Spanish, and she recently interned with a non-profit in Buenos Aires, Argentina through the Global Research & Internship Program (GRIP). She joined Wharton Women her freshman fall and has stayed on as an Education & Engagement committee member. Her favorite memory from E&E is working with the committee to plan and run the Resources Toolkit event last fall, and learning about Penn’s resources along the way. Outside of Wharton Women, Ava is Co-Director for the Netter Center’s Community School Student Partnerships (CSSP) program, and rides on the Penn equestrian team.
